Homelessness is never easy, but there is help available if you’re experiencing homelessness or if you’re at risk of experiencing it. Our community continues to develop a spectrum of services and resources to meet the needs of people who find themselves homeless. We will continue to update this section as new services become available. Below, you will find a range of agencies that you can reach out to for connections to shelter and other basic needs.
Kelowna Emergency Shelters Contact the shelters directly by phone to inquire about availability. New guests can be accepted into a shelter based on their self-referral or through a coordinated access process that prioritizes need.

Outdoor Sheltering in Kelowna
The City is legally obligated to designate a space for outdoor, overnight sheltering when demand for housing and shelter space exceeds the supply. The designated outdoor sheltering site is located where the Okanagan Rail Trail intersects with Richter Street.
Only temporary shelters are allowed at the site and they are only permitted between 5 p.m. and 9 a.m. each day. For everyone’s wellbeing, the site is monitored by private security, City Bylaw Enforcement, the RCMP and closed-circuit television cameras to support safety and security.
A daytime, personal belonging storage program called Lighten Your Load is available at the site to help reduce barriers for people sheltering outside. Large items necessary for outdoor survival, such as tents and sleeping bags, can be stored there. Drop off is open from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. and pick up is available between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. Storage is not available overnight.
